Diffusion tensor imaging tractography in patients with intramedullary tumors: comparison with intraoperative findings and value for prediction of tumor resectability.
Conclusions These preliminary data suggest that DT imaging in patients with spinal cord tumors is capable of predicting the resectability of the lesion. A further prospective study is needed to confirm these results and any effect on patient outcome.

[Reflection and Reaction] Does the existing standard of care increase glioblastoma energy metabolism?
Glioblastoma multiforme is the most common primary brain tumour in adults, with a median survival of about 12 months from diagnosis. Secondary glioblastoma can also arise from lower grade astrocytomas after therapeutic intervention. The existing standard of care includes maximum surgical resection, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy. Almost 99% of patients receive perioperative corticosteroids as part of the standard of care, which is sometimes extended throughout the course of the disease. Glioblastoma is notoriously heterogeneous in cellular composition, consisting of tumour stem cells, mesenchymal cells, and host stromal cells. The number of tumour-associated macrophages or monocytes (TAMs) can sometimes equal the number of tumour cells. TAMs indirectly contribute to tumour progression...

Transformation of intracranial anaplastic astrocytoma associated with neurofibromatosis type I into gliosarcoma: Case report
We report a rare case with gliosarcomatous recurrence of anaplastic astrocytoma with neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF-1) followed by chemoradiation therapy. A 26-year-old male patient was presented with headache. Five years before admission, he had been diagnosed with NF-1. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed a well-demarcated, enhanced lesion in the right frontal lobe and multiple enhanced lesions in the scalp, lower cervical, thoracic, and upper lumbar regions. He underwent an osteoplastic craniotomy with total tumor resection. Histopathology of the tumor showed findings corresponding with anaplastic astrocytoma. He was followed by radiotherapy and chemotherapy postoperatively. A month later, his spinal lesion was also resected and confirmed pathologically as plexiform neurofibroma. The ...
